HR policies just cannot be short-sighted anymore; hybrid HR brings into view the future of work and the potential of humans when they harness the means made possible by technology. It is only right for policymakers to make room for hybrid HR and give it a fair chance at improving employee experience and organizational potential. With the opening up of new avenues along which to improve workforce efficiency, it won’t be long before robotic co-workers and a staggering amount of automation run along the workflows traditionally handled by human workers.
Right setting for hybrid HR
At a time in the economic downturn when labor is particularly unpredictable, the manufacturing industry would be served well by a boost from hybrid workforce models. Robotic arms handling dangerous materials and mechanisms can expedite production and bring the pace of work back on track without compromising workplace safety. The maps of robots can be predefined and marked out for manufacturing processes including transportation of finished goods and components from various sections of the assembly line. Through hybrid HR advancements, the sterile conditions required for specialized manufacturing processes can continue unhindered while robotic workers go through their motions.

It is not just the industrial production and behind-the-scenes areas of the world of work that benefit from hybrid HR solutions. Helpful displays, artificial intelligence within hand-held displays and devices, and robotic client-servers can be introduced in retail and customer-facing segments as well. Self-service portals can get a shot in the arm from the hybrid workforce model. This contactless model would find many takers in the post-pandemic world when people do not wish to appear in close quarters of one another, but cannot entirely do away with the interaction.
Successful implementation of hybrid administration modules in healthcare
For the remote working model too, hybrid HR has powerful solutions that have been tried and tested with success during the peak of the COVID-19 infections. While doctors and patient care could not be deferred in all cases, hybrid HR departments among hospital administration relied on technology and teleconsultations to bring relief to out-patients. This reduced the burden of patients waiting without medical attention. Hospitals which have successfully carried out teleconsultations powered by Artificial Intelligence bots and hybrid administration in India are Fortis, Apollo, and Narayana Hridayalaya among others. Now, with these hybrid models of consultation seeing success in a variety of fields, remote working models can be merged with routine consultations as business volumes return to pre-pandemic levels.
Interestingly, hybrid models of remote consultations were already being tested before the COVID-19 pandemic took center-stage and made contactless models necessary.
Extrapolating the success of hybrid HR to other sectors
The corporate strategy for providing tech-enabled solutions would be complex to implement. But it gives direction for long-term goals and outlines the path for hybrid HR functioning to become the norm. For one, the outlay at the beginning, as with any other technology-driven venture, would be high. Human resources would also need training and support during the trial phases. Support for a flexible workforce can become a challenge to provide until all systems reach a level of acceptance and readiness; however, India is better poised to make this happen due to its young, digitally-literate working population. Progress might be slow at first as employees warm up to the fact that they interact with technology more than with other human teammates. However, the predictable workflows and high efficiency that urges a hybrid HR department onward would also win favor with young professionals.
