Artificial Intelligence in HR and all other areas of HR Tech have become a notable buzzword and not without reason. AI in HR analytics speeds up inference of insights because it takes a comprehensive look at large amounts of compiled data. It gives clear, actionable data points that can be taken into consideration by top management at the time of policymaking and enforced by human resources.

AI in HR helps personnel get over the rigors of keeping track of myriad documents. Instead, they get down to the point about reaching inferences and putting them into force in contemporary times instead of sometime in the vague future. Artificial Intelligence can sound ultra-sophisticated as the application of HR AI because it is likened to the use of robotics and automation. But in reality, Artificial Intelligence in Human Resource Management is all about harnessing tech to produce insights that give results readily.

The automation application of Artificial Intelligence in HRM allows managers to cut down time spent tracking rote jobs like raising tickets, following up through a series of routine questions, addressing and closing the common queries. This move has already been tried out and lauded by AI tech giants such as Cisco, eCommerce major Flipkart, and ThoughtWorks. Even Accenture routinely uses AI in HR to perform its recruitment and staffing functions.

That is not to say Artificial Intelligence in HR supplants the humane touch – growing startups and social enterprises such as Belong, Mumbai, India, highlight the importance of Artificial Intelligence in HR as a way to make the HR personnel more effective and impactful in their tasks. It happens without losing out the advantage of using their human faculties optimally. This is the reason India Inc. does not shy away from investing close to INR 1 crore or more into HR Tech in the coming year.

In a survey conducted among top-performing start-ups, the willingness to invest in HR Tech, specifically cognitive technologies such as Natural Language Processing, Artificial Intelligence in HR, chatbots, and HR Analytics ranges at the very top.

The entrance of Artificial Intelligence in HR manifests itself in allowing the human touch – for instance to meet the prospective candidates specifically in recruitment, staffing, and selection. Job seekers can be categorized and bespoke interactions through email and chat are made possible through AI in HR. Then, once the prospect is vetted and relevant data is accumulated, it makes sense for a human HR agent to pitch in and take the lead forward.

At the same time, Artificial Intelligence in HR reduces the preconceived negativity that surrounds certain activities. For instance, “mothers returning to work after a break” might be viewed unfavorably by an uninformed HR recruiter. But AI in HR allows such a factor to be highlighted by such candidates. Companies looking to encourage gender equality and working mother-friendliness can reach out to these candidates directly with the help of an AI-powered talent acquisition tool. Such frameworks are already in place among CutShort, an AI-powered recruitment portal. The intervention of Artificial Intelligence in HR is a welcome addition and can be used effectively to improve outcomes for both large and small organizations.
