The challenges faced by women in science and technology
Women in science and technology have faced many challenges over the years. One of the biggest challenges has been the lack of representation. According to a study conducted by the National Science Foundation, women make up only 28% of the workforce in science and engineering occupations. This underrepresentation has led to a lack of role models and mentorship for women in these fields.
Another challenge faced by women in science and technology is the gender pay gap. According to the same study, women earn less than men in science and engineering occupations, with women earning only 77 cents for every dollar earned by men. This disparity has led to a lack of financial security and upward mobility for women in these fields.
Additionally, women in science and technology often face discrimination and bias in the workplace. They may be subjected to microaggressions, such as being interrupted during meetings or having their ideas dismissed. They may also be passed over for promotions or opportunities based on their gender.

Before joining ChatGPT, Mira worked as a software engineer and technical lead for several startups and established companies, including Google and Microsoft.
