The pandemic has completely changed the way businesses work. The need for a physical workplace is an idea many organizations have had to reconsider in the last two years. Many companies are still operating remotely while many others have already gone hybrid, an operating model expected to be the future of work. Companies have spent the last couple of months pondering the options and the alternatives to find the best course of action for themselves for the future. Several technological solutions have also come up in this period, which companies are trying to make sense of depending on their specific needs.
It would be fair to say that technology has been both a boon and bane for companies in this period. While it has assisted them in remaining operational through these difficult times, its unguided use has also led to several problems for employees, including burnout. Millions of employees left their jobs last year, leading to the Great Resignation. And most of these employees quit because they couldn’t handle the stress emanating from the new way of working and technology that was supposed to help create an engaging and convenient work environment.

Employers have had to go deep into factors leading to such a mass exodus to attract and retain talent. A couple of things that have come out of the analysis are that they need to re-look their work environment and introduce enterprise metaverse to make talent stay. And in that area, their priority is to evaluate different aspects of hybrid work. It is a fact that hybrid has become a popular work model post-pandemic. Transitioning into hybrid work has been all but easy.
Many companies have experienced first-hand that the shift is not as seamless as initially. The first thing that businesses need to do is not be too quick with their decisions. They need to use and compare different technologies and collaboration tools to figure out what best works for them. And this re-evaluation of hybrid work is not only required in terms of remote work; companies also need to reconsider their in-person office culture and perks.
Companies also need to realize that the enterprise metaverse is a reality that will soon become commonplace. They have already started using virtual reality and other such innovations to make their remote collaboration more efficient and effective, without knowing that these are the first steps towards what is being called the enterprise metaverse. As companies leverage technology solutions to improve the productivity of their remote workers, they are moving ever closer to bringing enterprise metaverse into their operations. It is only a matter of time before companies start to work on their metaverse strategies and roll those out.
The year 2022 is expected to re-examine and explore as companies seek ways to provide a more engaging, productive, and convenient work environment. Companies need to re-examine hybrid work and consider the enterprise metaverse more seriously to attract and retain talent.
