With more and more millennials entering the workforce, company culture has become one of the key factors in attracting great talent. A healthy company culture cannot be created just with values, processes and organizational restructuring. Most companies find it challenging to create an organizational culture that can deal with this highly competitive and dynamic work environment. They need to evolve continuously and at the same time hold on to their core values. This can be facilitated only by adopting the right technology.

Right technology is like the nervous system that connects every other aspect of the organizational culture and can help in several ways.

  1. Democratizing Information: Technology can help in strengthening the workplace culture by supporting democratization of information. Organizations that embrace modern technology and applications, facilitate easy access to data and information across departments. This helps in reducing transactional conversations, move the focus to more meaningful discussions, and make faster decisions at workplace. For instance, organizations that use technology in hiring, make recruitment a faster process and communicate to the candidates that their time is valued.
  2. Transparency: Adopting technology also helps in creating a company culture where the organizations are transparent about the new positions and the opportunities existing within the organization and provide clear information about how it can be pursued. When organizations help employees design a clear and flexible career path, it motivates them to perform even better. It helps build a culture of opportunity in the company and ensures higher retention of quality talent.
  3. Flexibility: Introducing cloud-based technologies can encourage flexible working hours in the workplace. Employees can log in and access work related information from anywhere in the world. This gives them greater flexibility and control over where and when they do their jobs resulting in healthier work-life balance, higher productivity and reduced turnover. This type of organizational culture also attracts the best talent.
  4. Collaboration: Communication and collaboration is an important aspect of a healthy corporate culture. New technology has made it easier and faster for the teams to collaborate with the help of online chats and project management tools. It makes information flow easier and smoother throughout the organization.
  5. Learning and Development: When organizations adopt virtual training programs, it provides the employees with an ecosystem of learning tools and reinforces their commitment to the company culture. Technological tools have made training and skill development programs more compelling for the employees and more economical for the organizations.
  6. Performance Management: Technology helps in measuring employee impact better by capturing real time data and improving the performance management process. Regular feedback sessions with the team can ensure course corrections on a regular basis and avoid issues from blowing out of proportion. It not only motivates the employees to work better, but also gives the manager better visibility into team processes. Only the right performance management technology can make this process possible and can ensure a healthy company culture.
