A decade ago the general idea of an employee was a nine to five job in any given organization – be it a big or a small one. One could see hordes of human heads juggling with backpacks, pushing one another to be on time at their allotted desks. Simple work space with the most  important tool on the table; a landline telephone the sole means of communication.

The new generation or as they are referred to as Millennials are in tandem with technology and  today’s information-rich business has forced the top brass think tanks to explore and  transform their old-school workplaces into something more classy and appealing.

Today realization has finally dawned on to  the employers that Millennials have a huge impact on the workplace. So let’s explore the changes brought by the employers to make a millennial friendly workspace, thus making the work place ideal for the fresh minds.

Essential Keys To A Millennial Friendly Workspace

1.Modernized classy feel is the need of the hour

Multinationals today are prepared to walk the path with their employees. The equation between the employer and employee has seen a phenomenal change. Employers are more approachable than they used to be. Workplace positivity, a sense of oneness and a pleasant environment are the perks that draw the employees besides the usual perks offered. A good company culture shows through its workplace. Millennials today do not want to be restricted to their office cubicles. A sterilized workplace is a bygone thing. New innovative interiors and more than that super gadgets is what draws the workers to their workplace.

2. Home Away from Home

The new generation is used to living in an “always-connected” world without separating home life and work life as much as the older generations. This desire for work-life integration can be accommodated by including some simple home comforts.

  • A kitchen with places to store food or snacks.
  • Work areas with comfortable furniture which are quiet zones where they can focus.

3. Building Relationships

It’s quite natural to be a little apprehensive and nervous on your first day at work. Putting them at ease during their initial days by pairing them with an experienced person works wonders. This helps them navigate their new job and start to build a relationship with team and put them at ease gradually.

4. Growth Graph

Millennials are always hungry for new opportunities and ever ready to learn from their mistakes. Besides learning they share their knowledge and skills without any hesitation. They can be a great motivator too.

5. Targets achieved

Successes and failures are two opposite ends of the same pole. Millennials are a focussed lot, ready to face any eventuality with courage and celebrate their failure and accomplishment  with great aplomb. Kudos to that.

6. Do your good DEEDS

As one grows older one also becomes more mature and more responsible towards oneself, ones family and towards society too. Nevertheless, CSR (corporate social responsibility) is being recognized and followed in a big way. Employee events have become an integral part of the company’s policy thus making them release their purse strings and donate for a good cause.
