Some businesses are sticking to their guns when it comes to their pre-COVID-19 recruitment plans while others are slashing headcount. Trends in recruiting are changing as  are some are planning to step up hiring while some venture into lateral hiring. E-services, e-commerce, and logistics companies are amongst those companies that are in dire need of manpower.

As the pandemic continues to spread across the globe, businesses are looking to make amends to their strategies to improve the productivity of their employees, especially those that are working from home. If we go by what experts say, the pandemic is expected to affect corporate recruitment and result in the modification of industry norms in the long run. Amongst the key trends in recruiting in the post-COVID-19 era are remote working, contactless processes, and digital adoption.

Here are a few more:

  • Employer branding holds the key: One of the biggest changes that the recruitment sector has seen since the pandemic hit is how some companies have completely stopped hiring new employees while some have cut down on their requirement for fresh talent. This has prevented the usual competition that companies used to have over hiring of great talent. Some companies are more active in the job market than others. At the same time, this is the ideal time for those companies that aren’t too active to bring more innovation into their recruitment processes. It has become a lot harder for companies to make job seekers wait for new job openings with them. This is where a company’s branding endeavors can make the difference. Most of the job seekers these days are more interested in a company’s brand. They are only sending in their applications to those companies that are more visible online and have a good reputation as well.
  • Recruitment processes shift to virtual platforms: Virtual interviews and meetings have become quite common and have replaced face-to-face interactions and in-person onboarding. More and more companies are now looking to shift to automated systems that are both intelligent and efficient and provide a virtual environment that is fit for holding interviews and facilitating onboarding. With virtual platforms, the recruitment team of a company is in touch with candidates through all the processes without having to personally meet them.
  • Getting ready for remote working: Remote working is fast becoming commonplace. Companies that are resuming their operations are permitting most of their employees to work from home. And recruiters aren’t too far behind either. Recruiters are working overtime to not only adapt to this new normal but also look for ways that can help them simplify their tasks. Companies can continue hiring without worrying about social distancing norms. They also have a wider network of talent to choose from. All of this put together can significantly bring down the cost of hiring.

Whether it is hiring new employees, onboarding them, or retaining existing ones, every aspect of recruitment has already undergone changes and is expected to experience more changes in the future.
