‘Flexible working models and upskilling are key to meeting evolving industry demands’

Krishnendu Chatterjee, VP & Business Head, TeamLease Services speaks to India Employer Forum about India’s employment growth, flexible workforce models, upskilling, and more.

He said, “India’s employment growth of 7.1% for H2 FY24-25 is driven by 7% GDP expansion, infrastructure investments, and digital adoption. Logistics, retail, and e-commerce are growing rapidly due to festive demand, boosting digital payments and credit needs. BFSI and EV manufacturing are also advancing, supported by technology and favourable regulations. Flexible workforce models and upskilling are key to meeting evolving industry demands.”

“For H2 FY24-25, 59% of employers across industries plan to expand their workforce, reflecting a net employment growth of 7.1%. Logistics leads with a projected net employment change of 14.2%, followed by e-commerce at 8.9% and retail at 8.2%. This growth is driven by seasonal demand, infrastructure investments, and technological advancements. Additionally, cities like Coimbatore, Jaipur and Gurugram are emerging as key job hubs, offering cost-effective opportunities for businesses to scale,” he further added.
