Hiring Sentiment To Improve In Next 3 Months

Kolkata: India Inc is likely to see a gradual improvement in hiring sentiment in the next three months as economic recovery starts picking up pace, according to a ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook survey of 1,518 employers across the country.

About 8% of the companies surveyed said they would hire more people in the January-March quarter, as per the results of the survey shared with ET. About 2% companies said they planned to slash headcount while 55% expected no change to their payrolls and 35% said they were unsure about the first quarter of 2021.

This puts the net employment outlook – the difference between companies looking to hire and those expecting a fall in headcount – at +6%. Adjusting for seasonal variations, the net outlook is +5%, as compared to +3% in the October-December 2020 quarter.
