Haryana alters 18 Labour Laws in 4 years to help workers
“According to the amendments made in the regulations, women employees can now work from 7 pm to 6 am provided the employer ensures their safety and safe transportation,” said Haryana Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nayab Singh Saini while talking to the media persons here on Tuesday.
He said that the State Government has amended as many as 18 labour laws to facilitate workers and employers and resolve irritants and practical problems dogging the path of industry during the tenure of the present government.
Apart from this, as many as 24 schemes are being implemented by the Labour Welfare Board for the welfare of workers working in industrial and commercial institutions in the state and their dependents, he said.
He also announced that the State Shramik Divas would be celebrated on September 17 at Karnal to make labourers aware about their rights.
Highlighting achievements of his Department, Saini said minimum wages of unskilled to highly skilled workers were between Rs 5,563.95 and Rs 6,289.50 in 2013-14 which had been increased to between Rs 8,497.56 and Rs 10,845.27 by our government.
Financial assistance given to unregistered labourer has been increased to Rs 5 lakh in case of death due to arson or collapse of the building and Rs 1 lakh in case of disability caused due to the accident, he said. A provision has been made to provide financial assistance to labourers suffering from silicosis disease for rehabilitation, death, funeral, pension, family pension, education, kanyadan and for son’s marriage. A corpus fund of Rs 10 crore has been created for this purpose, he said.
