EPFO introduces the option for creating UAN by Employees

Via this notification, EPFO provided the open functionality for creating UAN by employees. It has been enabled in Unified Portal effective from 21st November 2017.
“RPFC (Regional Provident Fund Commissioner) introduces the Direct UAN allotment to any citizen at the unified portal. Currently, UAN can be generated by the employer only and the same to be generated before ECR filing of that member and if in case there was a mismatch of large of new joiners in any establishment. Keeping in view the difficulties faced by employers an open functionality is being provided at Unified Portal through which any citizen (prospective employee) can generate his /her UAN on the basis of Aadhaar.  The employee will get an OTP on Aadhaar linked mobile number and after the verification of OTP; the employee has to fill the UAN input sheet form from UADAI. On the basis of input details, UAN will be generated”.

PF Name Correction made in online Notifications

Via this notification, EPFO provided the open functionality for correcting Name, DOB and Gender through Unified Portal effective from 21st November 2017.
“RPFC (Regional Provident Fund Commissioner) introduces the open functionality for correcting Name, DOB and Gender through the unified portal to all EPF members. The current process of submitting a joint declaration for making corrections is not accepted by the department. Employees whose basic details (like Name, DOB and Gender) can be corrected in the EPFO online portal, post-correction the system will verify the entered details, after successful verification, this request will be automatically transferred to the employers’ login for the further process”.

Auto Transfer Note on PF

Functionality required carrying out Auto Transfer of P.F. accumulations of a member on change of employment has been launched in Unified Portal.  Via the EPFO letter dated 15th November 2017
EPFO provides the facility for auto transfer of PF accumulations provided:

  1. The Aadhaar number of the member must have been seeded and verified against the UAN at the previous establishment level.
  2. Member’s details like date of joining, date of exit and reason for exit should be available with respect to previous employment.
  3. UAN is activated and Mobile number is available.

The auto transfer facility will be initiated post the first contribution is made of the new joinee with the UAN tagged and flagged for Auto Transfer by the Employer.
An SMS/e-mail (If registered) will be triggered from the EPFO system to the member.
A facility is also made available to the members to stop the auto transfer facility initiated by the New Employer while tagging the UAN.
To initiate the process, Employee can log into the EPFO portal in the Online Service tab.
– Member Portal – Track Claim Status – Stop Auto Initiated Claim Cases- within 10 days of receipt of SMS from EPFO.
In case of non-receipt to Stop Transfer request within stipulated 10 days; the claims get reconciled and moved to the regular process of transfer.
Various checks and scenarios are considered before the auto transfer gets initiated which can be referred from Page 3 of the below circular. Attached notification is for reference. Please do ensure the adherence of submissions to the concerned authorities and the displays are in place.
