Explained: Why Freelancing Is Becoming The New Normal Than A Full-time Job In 2021

The onset of the Covid-19 pandemic has turned the world upside down. The future of work has taken a new paradigm shift and moved towards remote and virtual models rather than physical office models. Furthermore, the mandatory stay-at-home orders and market shutdowns to contain the spread of coronavirus resulted in massive layoffs across the world. According to the estimates shared by the International Labour Organization, around 400 million jobs were lost worldwide during the second quarter of 2020.

Despite the dynamic employment scenario, the silver lining is for those who wanted to seize the opportunity of working from home. With jobs facing all the strain, the trend of freelancing is picking up at a rapid pace. The digital transformation has created a huge demand for highly technical, and new-age technology experts.

Additionally, the perks of working from home have also given rise to opportunities for workers to manage their life better. According to the stats of a survey, around 80 percent of people working in jobs wish to ditch their full-time work and continue working as freelancers, out of which 70 percent opt for self-employment opportunities to attain a better work-life balance.
