Skilled Workers Trained Under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana Get Higher Wages: Govt

The skilled workers trained under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana get higher wages, the government said on Wednesday.

“A quick study of PMKVY was undertaken by National Skill Development Corporation which found that standardized protocols and processes have largely been followed in various steps of the skill value chain and that the skilled under PMKVY get higher wages,” state minister RK Singh, in the ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship said in a written response in Rajya Sabha.

According to the minister, the ministry has been undertaking regular monitoring and evaluation of the various initiatives for necessary corrective measures, if any, and has assigned the task of third party evaluation of seven central sector schemes being implemented.

These schemes include the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikash Yojana (PMKVY), Jan Shiksha Sansthan (JSS), up-gradation of 1396 government industrial training institutes (ITIs) through public- private partnership (PPP), skill development in 47 districts affected by left wing extremist (LWE), National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), up-gradation of existing government ITIs into model ITIs and Enhancing Skill Development Infrastructure in North Eastern States (ESDI).
