IT Biggies Give Lessons To IIITs and NITs On Future Tech, Skills

Leading software and IT services companies such as Infosys, Accenture and TCS are working with universities and engineering colleges across the country to help students gear up for modern job requirements by tweaking their curricula and training faculty on newer technologies.

The companies are partnering institutions such as National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) to make their curricula more industry specific in line with the growing dominance of future technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and data analytics, industry and academic insiders told ET.

Even the premier Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are regularly revisiting their course curricula with inputs from industry.

“India, with more than 65% of its human resource pool being below 35 years and about 12 million individuals expected to join the workforce annually, is sitting at the cusp of an enormous responsibility of equipping the youth with skills that matter, and in turn boost employment,” said Ranjan Bandyopadhyay, vice president, human resources, at TCS.

The country’s largest IT services provider is collaborating in curriculum space with more than 100 institutes, including IIITs and NITs. It is also collaborating with 30 premium in-stitutes across the country to offer a BTech programme in computer science and business systems.
