 PMJJBY and PMSBY
Workers registered with the Arunachal Pradesh Building & Other Constructions Workers Welfare Board (APB&OCWWB) will now be covered under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY).
Heading a coordination meeting of registering officers on Monday, APB&OCWWB chairman Jalley Sonam informed that it is mandatory for the board to make its registered workers aware of the schemes.
The PMJJBY is a life insurance scheme which covers death due to any reason. It would be a one-year cover, renewable from year to year, with a benefiting sum of Rs 2 lakh, payable on a member’s death due to any cause, Sonam informed, adding that the premium of Rs 330 per annum per member “would be taken care of by the board.”
The PMSBY is available to people between 18 and 70 years of age with bank accounts. It has an annual premium of Rs 12, which will be paid by the board, he said.
In case of accidental death or full disability, Sonam said, the nominee will receive an amount of Rs 2 lakh, and in case of partial or permanent disability, Rs 1 lakh.
Exhorting the registering officers to work with dedication for the welfare of the board and its workers, Sonam directed them to submit the details of the registered workers of the respective districts, along with required documents, before 31 May.
